Leadership through change

Transformation starts with trust

Since becoming CEO in 2021, Igor Tóth has led O2 Slovakia through continued growth, digital expansion and changes in how the organisation works. His perspective is shaped by more than a decade inside the business: he joined O2 in 2008, moved through customer and marketing roles and served as Chief Marketing Officer before becoming CEO.

For Igor, transformation is not only about technology, structure or speed. It starts with trust — the kind built through consistency, clear decisions and keeping your word when pressure rises.

In this Leaders Talk, he reflects on why leadership teams need confidence, why learning keeps leaders relevant, and why transformation becomes sustainable only when people understand the direction. For Igor, trust is not a soft value. It is the condition that allows people to move through change.

Trust and consistency

Trust is built before transformation starts

When change accelerates, people first look for consistency, clarity and leaders they can trust.

What’s one leadership principle you would never compromise on?

01

Confidence builds trust. If I give my word or make an agreement, I keep it — always.

Looking back, what decision shaped your company’s future the most?

02

Choosing transformation over comfort — always improving how we create value for customers, employees, and shareholders.

Learning and relevance

Leaders stay relevant by learning

In a market that keeps changing, experience matters most when it stays open, curious and close to the customer.

How do you build a leadership team that lasts?

03

Be daring and caring: set clear strategy and values, then give people freedom with accountability.

How do you personally stay ahead of industry change?

04

I’m a lifelong learner. Curiosity, agility, and the courage to act keep me ahead of the curve.

Question-4

Courage under pressure

Transformation tests what leaders really believe

The hardest moments rarely test strategy alone. They test patience, consistency and the courage to keep direction when comfort disappears.

What is the toughest challenge you have faced — and what did it teach you?

05

Transformation is tough. To change how people work, you must first change how they think — with effort, consistency, and a clear North Star.

What advice would you give to the next generation of leaders in your industry?

06

Step outside your bubble. Constantly learn from customers, front lines, other industries, and global leaders.

In Menity’s CEO and board work across CEE, the same pattern appears: transformation holds better when leaders establish trust before pressure rises — through clarity, consistency and decisions people can rely on.
